Oh that Bijoux!!!

She must insist on doing everything her own way...

So - yesterday she was back to the specialist for a re-check, scoping and to (hopefully) have her feeding tube removed. Supposed to be in by 9 and out by early afternoon. (At least that was the plan....)

Everything seemed to go well in the morning - everything looked well healed, her esophagus was relatively clean and the tube was removed without incident. Pheeeww!

I hung around for awhile to make sure she was fully recovered from the anesthetic before taking her home...

They asked if I could wait another hour or so because she wasn't coming around as well as she might...

So I waited...

After two hours they said that she was breathing a bit oddly and could I possibly leave her overnight for observation. There was no sense of urgency, the vet just felt that she was a bit "off" and being Bijoux perhaps she should stay.

Thankfully I did leave her - about an hour after I left she stopped breathing. They revived her, gave her some sedative and put her on oxygen. Apparently it isn't uncommon for cats to have laryngeal spasm when they have surgery- but normally it would happen within minutes of having the breathing tube removed.

Not 6 hours later!!!!

Sooooo - here I am waiting to hear if she can come home today. The good thing is that the staff seem to love her at this clinic and were perfectly happy to keep her overnight.

She does keep everyone hopping though!!!

Please cross your fingers that she is okay later today and can come home...
