Think Good Thoughts!

Oh the last couple of weeks have been brutal!

I am sure that I am not going to hit all of the critical highlights, but just to give you a taste...

On the Friday before the long weekend we got a call that Molly (Winston's sister) , was at the vet. She hadn't been eating and was dehydrated. Although she had been in her new home for the past 2 months, they decided that she wasn't happy with them and were giving her back to us.

I spent the weekend force feeding her and keeping her hydrated with subcutaneous fluids.

On the Tuesday she went back to the vet. Her bloodwork was even worse and we decided to viral test her. It turns out she was positive for FIV and since she had tested negative in May, she most likely contracted it while in her adoptive home.:o(

The same weekend, our dear Justice passed away. She was 18 years old, and had congestive heart failure so it wasn't a huge surprise, but she had been fostering at the office and her passing left an awful lot of sadness behind. Rest in peace dear girl!

One of our little kittens had a freak accident and broke his toe, on the same night that one of the birds caught a toe in an odd place too.

In just the last week I was asked to take a 4 month old, blind pug pup, 2 senior collies, a basenji x, a biting chihuahua mix, two 15 year old cats, 5 senior cats from one home, several litters of kittens from various places with friendly and/or feral moms... It just never ends.:o(

I did take two kittens that had been abandoned at a school. Perhaps they thought someone there would take them home. Nemo is gorgeous - a 5 or 6 month old silver tabby. He is a buff and handsome boy! He has been neutered, wormed, vaccinated, microchipped and is looking for a home. The other boy is Emory - a 10 weeks old all grey boy and a real purr machine! He was SO skinny when he came it was just awful but he is plumping out nicely and he has wonderfully soft fur.

Today's worry is for Chelsea and Angel. They are sisters - 6 & 5 years old who came to me after their owner died. Both girls are being spayed today, and Chelsea has a largish lump on the back of one leg that is pretty worrisome.

I am SO hoping it is not cancer....

If you can spare any good thoughts for her, I would really appreciate it!

These girls were so neglected when they came it took me about 4 hours on each of them to cut through the matts and take some of their smelly coats off so that I could bathe them. They are so full of life though - playful and silly and LOVE to lick you. What darlings!

Anyway, I hope that things are better where you are. Please remember to check your local shelter if you are looking to adopt.

There are so many lovely creatures out there looking for homes...

(((hugs)))

More than good thoughts - prayers for the animals and all the good you do. We have 3 rescued cats, and two rescued dogs. They are such a special part of our family.
